RCD
TESTING |

All buildings should have a residual current device (RCD). A
RCD, commonly known as a safety switch, is designed to isolate power
when it detects an inbalance caused via a faulty appliance or
through the body of a person accidentally touching an energized
piece of equipment. It is designed to save lives.
As part of our testing procedures, we ensure all safety
switches are tested to comply with Safety Act 2000 and Occupational
Health and Safety Regulation 2001.
Hardwired RCD’s should be maintained in a safe operating
condition and tested according to the following schedule:
- Trip tested & millisecond tested at least
annually.
Portable RCD’s should be maintained in a safe operating
condition and tested according to the following schedule:
- Trip tested & millisecond tested at least
annually. Additionally, we recommend that RCD’s be trip tested
quarterly if the RCD’s are in a dusty, wet, corrosive (chemicals)
environment or outside.
As part of
our testing procedure, we test your RCDs to Australian Standard
3760.
